Using technology and web 2.0 raises literacy development, promotes global citizenship, aids collaborative learning, and benefits student leadership.
Today’s students are living in a multi-modal society. They are staying connected by using the internet, social networking sites, smart phones, and tablets. Kids are no longer passing notes in class they are chatting online and commenting on status updates. So, if this is the way students are staying in touch with the world around them, then how can teachers tap into the usage of technology and web 2.0 to hook students into lifelong learning? Through the usage of technology and web 2.0 teachers can engage students in a variety of ways. Peruse my research on the benefits of technology and web 2.0 tools to raise literacy, promote global learning, aid collaboration, and increase student leadership. Through North Carolina State University’s New Literacies and Global Learning Master’s program I have composed craft knowledge to answer this question through action research.
