The purpose for collecting research and synthesizing the information is to help myself, as well as, other educators see the value and evidence of student learning when using technology and web 2.0 tools in the classroom. Research was collected during four major courses during my graduate field work: New Literacies and Media, Theory and Research in Global Learning, Teachers as Researchers, and Teachers as Leaders.
The artifacts collected represent the following areas of research: literacy development through inquiry-based learning, global citizenship, collaboration, and leadership. These artifacts serve to answer the over-arching question: “how can technology and web 2.0 tools raise literacy and engagement of students?” The culminating product of this synthesis is a Weebly of exemplar student work in these areas to share with other educators and students to show the necessity of using technology and web 2.0 in the classroom. My goal is for all teachers to implement technology and web 2.0 to support their curriculum and learning environment whether they have low-technology or high-technology resources available. As my graduate field work comes to a close I will continue to research and synthesize my experiences through reflection, refraction, and altering various projects. I want to continue to stay current with web 2.0 and technology practices to best serve student’s literacy development and engagement to promote lifelong learning. I would also like to share my culminating product with other educators, students, and collaboratively share ideas on the blog area of this product to help provide assistance for implementing low and high technology in other classrooms. |
